Gill's new book is out now
Parenting From Hostility to Harmony™: 10 Steps to Changing Your Child’s Challenging Behaviour
Practical strategies to restore calm, rebuild trust, and reclaim your role as the parent.
How I went from exhausted, manipulated and overwhelmed Mum to helping hundreds of parents and carers like you build resilience and harmony in their home.

Before I discovered the therapeutic parenting protocol called Non-Violent Resistance, (NVR) I was struggling as a Mum, to put in mildly! (What is NVR?)
I started Stressed Parent in 2014 having been a stressed parent myself when I adopted my son in 2011, a highly traumatised and challenging three-year old with ADHD. Originally a stress management trainer to industry, I started providing resilience programmes to parents and carers and specialised in mentoring parents of violent, aggressive and controlling children when I became an NVR Practitioner.
I have walked in your shoes!
If you are on the receiving end of defiance, aggression, manipulation and other controlling behaviours, that was me too! Providing me with a unique empathy and understanding.
We received a lot of therapy, but it was an intervention called Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) that turned things around in my family. I became so convinced in the method that I trained in it professionally. Happily, Gill and her teenage son now have a very harmonious family life. (well mostly!).
Since 2014 I have provided training and mentors to families through over twenty adoption and fostering agencies and have developed a unique e-course and NVR parent mentoring via Zoom, called “From Hostility to Harmony, Changing a Challenging Child’s behaviour”.
And the best of it?
I’ve had the honour of helping hundreds of parents like you sidestep years of struggle…

I am trained in the SPACE programme to help a child with anxiety. My most valuable qualification however, is my lived experience of child to parent violence and my teenage son, who is a living testament to going through some huge roller-coaster rides with me to becoming a wonderful young man.
Just to reassure you
