Gill is an accomplished and entertaining public speaker who has presented at many national  events and exhibitions.  Gill has been interviewed on Radio 4 Women’s Hour, BBC Bristol and presented a series of 15 minute programmes about  stress management on GMTV. Gill Tree was the keynote speaker at Adopt South West’s fourth annual adopters conference and delivered an inspirational and engaging presentation titled ‘from hostility to harmony – changing a child’s challenging behaviour’. This was targeted for a post adoption audience of practitioners and parents who may have been on the receiving end of swearing, aggression and even violence.

Gill weaved her own experience as an adoptive parent and her professional expertise to explain child to parent violence and offer up positive non-shaming strategies under the umbrella model of NVR. One parent said “it was an excellent conference, well organised with good refreshments but importantly an excellent presenter who was very engaging and honest”.

As a result of the conference there has been a significant increase in families approaching Adopt SouthWest for support to help with challenging behaviour and child to parent violence with a particular demand for Gill as their preferred provider.

Gill presented at a SEPAN conference attended by 60 social work professionals working in the field of adoption support. Her presentation was highly rated (with some rating it an excellent presentation) and enjoyed by attendees. She was able to explain the ideas behind the training she offers in an engaging way, explaining theory, providing examples of how this support has benefitted adoptive families and even giving a memorable demonstration of reflexes at work. People found it a helpful and interesting presentation which introduced them to new ideas.
